Brett Wean

Brett Wean is the Director of Writing and Entertainment Outreach for The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. His role has enormous personal significance, as he is a survivor of suicide loss. Brett draws on his background in book publishing, as well as his experience performing and teaching improvisation at The People’s Improv Theater in New York City, as he helps those affected by suicide share their personal stories, and in guiding content creators in film, television and social media safely tell the stories they want to tell involving suicide and mental health. Providing guidance and feedback on TV shows, films, podcasts, music videos, comic books and more, Brett has worked with platforms including Netflix, HBO, Hulu, NBC Universal, Viacom CBS, This American Life and others, drawing on the improv spirit of “Yes And” to help inspire, educate, and devise creative solutions that use storytelling to create a culture that’s smart about mental health.
